Questions about the Community Service Corps should be
directed to Mrs. Honyara, moderator.
This November and December the Community Service Corps led
their peers at Archbishop Carroll in the collection of toiletries. The
mission was labeled OPERATION WINTER SURVIVAL. After the long weeks of
collections Carroll students teamed with students from Monsignor Bonner High
School in Drexel Hill, led by their teacher, Miss Katie Campbell to stuff gift
bags. The bags were then delivered to the Veteran's Hospital of
Philadelphia. Students joined the veterans in conversation and Christmas
Carols.
This December members of ACHS CSC took part in Operation Santa Claus.
In the above pictures students traveled to Center City to the OYYA wrap
center. ACHS students, along with Miss Heffernan, and other elves from
Roman and Dougherty worked during the final days of the drive to spread holiday
cheer to the less fortunate. On Christmas Eve teams of ACHS students piled
the toys in cars, dressed in elf gear to deliver the toys.
Above, students load toys in Mr. George Bullocks caravan.
Mr. Bullock delivered the toys to 30 children under the age of 12 who live on
Lex Street in West Philadelphia. Without the Carroll giving spirit those
children may not experience Christmas gifts.
