Community Service Corps
“You must love your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind…you must love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matthew 22:37-40)
The Community Service Corps (CSC) is a unique organization in the United States. Housed in the archdiocesan and private high schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, CSC provides opportunities for high school teens to put their faith into action through service. It is an extracurricular activity which requires the teens’ most precious commodity- their time. After school and on weekends, young people gather to serve in their schools, parishes, and local communities. Through CSC young people experience a deepening of their faith and a realization that the call to serve is not for a privileged few, but for everyone.
The overall goals of the Community Service Corps are:
- To foster self-discovery, self-growth and self-acceptance of teenagers and a knowledge of how God loves them and has a plan to work through them to show His love for others
- To bring teenagers closer to Christ through service
- To help participants work together efficiently to build a better community
- To encourage members to accept their responsibilities as leaders and servers in the Church and civic community
