Lesson/Unit Outcome

At the conclusion of this unit, the student will present an oral presentation illustrated with a PowerPoint slide show, including  a bibliography. This lesson will review the use of PowerPoint and examine use of online subscription databases in use by the district.  The student will produce a simple five slide PowerPoint to accompany a speech no longer then 5 minutes but no less then 3 about a well-known author keyed to the current textbook.  Student will make an oral presentation to the class using an LCD projector.  Specific limitations on the PowerPoint will be imposed including the topics to be discussed and the format of the PowerPoint.  Students will be expected to be able to produce a narrowly focused PowerPoint that enhances their speech rather then distracts from the information presented.
