Tuition Rollback

Effective with the start of the 2019-20 school year, Archbishop John Carrol High School will be reducing tuition for ALL CLASSES (2020, 2021, 2022 and the incoming Class of 2023) to $8,600 a year. Student fees will be $1,300.  The $9,900 total is a reduction of 17.8 percent from the current annual tuition and fees of $12,045.

Our tuition will now be comparable to other area Catholic high schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.  This tuition rollback makes Archbishop John Carroll High School one of the very best values in Philadelphia for an exceptional Catholic education!

By lowering tuition, Carroll will be more accessible and affordable, allowing additional students to enroll in our school while assisting those current families that truly value a Catholic education.  Carroll provided over $2.5 million in merit and tuition assistance during the 2018-19 academic year, and our commitment to financial aid will continue.

Our track record speaks for itself:  Carroll’s Class of 2018 earned more than $32 million in college scholarships.  Students were accepted into every major college and university in the Philadelphia region including University of Pennsylvania, Villanova University, Temple University and Drexel University, as well as other outstanding institutions such as the University of Notre Dame, Boston College, Cornell, and Catholic University, to name but a a few. In addition, one highly distinguished graduate is now studying for the priesthood at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Wynnewood.

This success has been carefully planned and diligently executed over the past several years.

Regardless of tuition level, the constant improvement in all facets of school life remains our top priority.

We are excited to share this news with you.  Carroll is known for providing an exceptional education experience – the Carroll tuition rollback will make it an even better value.  We believe the tuition reset will allow every qualified student who desires the best of a Catholic education to become a part of the Carroll Community, #WhereSuccessBegins.

FAQs

  • Why is Carroll reducing tuition?
We are rolling back tuition and fees to promote accessibility and affordability for all Carroll students. It’s that simple! We wholeheartedly agreed with the Committee on Education of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, who noted the importance of a Catholic education in Renewing Our Commitment to Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools in the Third Millennium:”Young people are a valued treasure and the future leaders of our Church. It is the responsibility of the entire Catholic community – bishops, priests, deacons, religious, and laity – to continue to strive towards the goal of making our Catholic elementary and secondary schools available, accessible and affordable to all Catholic parents and their children, including those who are poor and middle class.”
  • When does the lower tuition go into effect?
The lower tuition would go in to effect for the 2019-2020 school year.
  • Who is eligible for lower tuition?
The entire student body, from the incoming Freshman Class of 2023 through rising Seniors Class of 2020, will be paying the same reduced tuition and fee package of $9,900 (this includes $1,300 in student fees).
  • How does this affect the Class of 2020?
The class of 2020 currently pays $9,500 for tuition and $1,845 fees for a bundled package of $11,345. Based on the proposed rollback to $9,900, the class will realize a face rate savings of $1,445. All other classes currently have a bundled face rate of $12,045.
  • How will academic merit scholarships and tuition assisted students be effected?
Current academic merit scholarship students have received a fixed annual amount for your entire time here at Carroll. Carroll will honor this merit amount and the basis of your new tuition will be set from the new $9,900 tuition and fee rate.

    For example:

Today’s tuition and fee rate                      $12,045
    Annual academic merit scholarship       $2,000
Current total tuition and fee rate            $10,045
New Tuition and fee rate                          $9,900
    Annual academic merit scholarship      $2,000
New tuition and fee rate                           $7,900

Tuition assisted students: every family receiving tuition assistance will continue to be required to fill out annually a FACTS application form. The analysis for assistance will now be based on a package of $9,900 rather than the current $12,045.
