Guidance and Mental Health

The Guidance Department's main responsibility is to help students have a successful high school experience and empower them to take an active role in their own personal & educational journey. Support is offered in many ways:  social-emotional, academic, college preparation, and compliance for student athletes who project to compete at the NCAA Division I, II, or III levels. Students will begin meeting with counselors during freshman year in order to become acclimated with the different platforms used for college readiness throughout their time at Carroll. Yet, the office operates on an open door policy – any student is welcome to drop by at any time with any concerns or questions they may have. 

 

Every students will have two counselors during their time at Carroll, one for 9th and 10th grade, and then year and one for 11th & 12th grade. 

 

In addition to college preparedness and planning, the Guidance Department also supports students socio-emotionally. All students are encourage to meet with our certified counselors if an issue pertaining to mental health is becoming a major factor in his or her life.
 
Recently, Archbishop Carroll has prioritized mental health and wellness by hiring a Mental Health and Wellness Coordinator who is a member of the Guidance Department staff and serves as liaison between the Guidance Department, Academic Resource Room, Carroll Administration, and other outside agencies. The primary focus of this added position is to coordinate mental health services and prevention efforts, while overseeing comprehensive support any student facing mental health challenges. The Mental Health and Wellness Coordinator provides leadership and direction to the overall school behavior health and wellness efforts.
