“With God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26)
Seniors have the opportunity to voluntarily apply for the Kairos retreat. Kairos is a Greek term that means “God’s time.” Kairos is a four-day/three-night retreat based on the exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola. It provides a unique opportunity for teens to experience their faith in a deeper way. By the end of the retreat, if they are open to it, they will grow in their relationship with God, others, and themselves, and have a new perspective on life. Kairos is always one of the highlights of senior year and the Carroll Catholic experience.
- Kairos is an opportunity to become more aware of how God is at work in our lives. Kairos takes away distractions like cell phones, computers, TV, schoolwork, etc. so that the retreatants can step back and reflect on God’s plan and the purpose and meaning of life. Hopefully, retreatants will come to see God’s presence even in the crosses in their lives. Through Kairos, retreatants will come to realize that the power of prayer and faith can help our daily battles and should not be underestimated.
- Kairos consists of a senior-teacher leadership team who plan every retreat and who give faith witnesses throughout the four-day experience. The leadership team models the Gospel for the retreatants not just through their words but, more importantly, by their Christlike example of faith, hope, love, and authenticity.
- The Kairos retreat is conducted four times a year at Malvern Retreat House in Malvern, PA. The cost is $280.00 per retreatant, which includes room, meals, transportation (by bus), and supplies. Please note that financial assistance is available to those for whom the cost of the retreat would be a burden and that no applicant will be denied participation in the Kairos retreat based on true financial need. Please contact Lisa Ritter in the Tuition Office if assistance is needed.
- Seniors are informed via student e-mail and daily announcements about when registration for a Kairos retreat begins and ends. Registration is conducted through a Google Form and is e-mailed to their student e-mail address. Sign-ups are on a first-come-first-served basis. If you have any questions, please e-mail the retreat director, Father Mark Cavara.
