Success on and off the field continues to be commonplace for the Carroll Girls Lacrosse Team.
On the heels of the Lady Patriots’’ 19th consecutive PCL title, seniors Alex Cabahug Almonte and Amber Germer have been named to the 2019 Girls’ High School All-Academic Team by U.S. Lacrosse.
A US Lacrosse All-Academic honoree is a player who exhibits exemplary lacrosse skills, good sportsmanship on the field, and represents high standards of academic achievement in the classroom.
Cabahug Almonte, who will attend the main campus of Penn State University in University Park, Penn., said, “Managing my time was the most difficult part of being a student-athlete. I tried to be organized with my schedule and used lacrosse as a way to motivate me in school.”
Germer is bound for George Washington University in Washington, D.C., said, “I was excited for the award because all of my hard work in school and on the field paid off. I’m excited to play lacrosse at George Washington next year and continue my academic and athletic career.
“Both Amber and Alex exemplify the values of a US Lacrosse All-Academic Player, they’re outstanding leaders across the board, whether that’s on the field, in the classroom, or in their community,” said Carroll Coach Lorraine Beers. “We’re so proud of both girls and look forward to their continued successes at Carroll and beyond.”
