Chuck Creighton, former head coach of Archbishop Carroll’s Girls’ Basketball team, will be honored on Friday, Dec. 20th at 7:00pm at Archbishop Carroll. The Lady Patriots will face off against Cardinal O’Hara during our Carroll Legends Night series.
Coach Creighton was named head coach of Archbishop Carroll’s Girls’ Basketball team during the 2007-2008 season. After a 19-8 debut, which included the second of six straight trips to the Philadelphia Catholic League final, Creighton led Carroll to its first State Title in his second year in command. This was the first season in which Catholic League schools were eligible to compete in the PIAA.
Since taking over as head coach, Creighton led the Patriots to the 2009 PIAA Class AAA Championship, the Catholic League’s first season in the PIAA, and the 2012 PIAA AAAA State Title. He also piloted the Patriots to three Philadelphia Catholic League Titles in 2009, 2010, 2012 and the 2011 PIAA Class AAAA final. Under his tenure, the Carroll program produced over 25 collegiate athletes and earned a number of individual honors.
Creighton lead the girls’ basketball team at Carroll from 2007-2015, and he coached his daughter, Meghan ’12, during her four years at Carroll.
“Chuck Creighton took a previously solid program and elevated his teams to the pinnacle of success in the state of Pennsylvania and the country. Permanently recognizing Coach with a banner in our gymnasium is richly deserved for his outstanding representation of Archbishop Carroll but as importantly, the positive impact he had on the young ladies who were fortunate enough to have played under Chuck,” said Archbishop Carroll President Francis E. Fox ’77.
“Chuck is so deserving of this special recognition. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to play for and learn from Coach Creighton. The positive impact he had on our student-athletes and basketball program during those eight seasons is truly remarkable. I know I can speak on behalf of my former teammates when I say how thankful we are to Chuck for his dedication and commitment to helping us grow as better athletes and even more important as better people during our years at Carroll,” added Nora McGeever, Archbishop Carroll’s Director of Advancement, who was coached by Chuck from 2008-2011.
Congratulations, Coach Creighton, on this accomplishment!
