Student-Athlete of the Week:
Richie Kimmel ’20 Carroll Football
What Coach Detweiler says about Richie:
“Richie is the embodiment to me of what a student-athlete should look like within our football program. Earning All-Main-Line, All-Delco, All-Catholic, and All-State honors last year are a testament to who he is a player, but getting voted captain as a Junior and again this year as a Senior, unanimously by his peers, is the ultimate testament to who he is a person. Richie has been most heavily recruited by the Ivy League schools to date, and that just reaffirms what we already know about him; great player, great student, great leader.”
Why Richie Chose Carroll:
“I went to St. James in Ridley. I chose Carroll because when I shadowed, I felt comfortable and it felt like a second home to me. And as years have gone by, I feel even more comfortable with the environment and teachers and it has become the perfect home for me. My favorite subject is Theology and it’s one of the reasons why I wanted to come to Carroll.”
Offers: University of Pennsylvania, Columbia University, and Cornell University
After he graduates, Richie is interested in studying: Sports Medicine
Favorite Football Memory:  “Beating St. Joseph’s Prep freshmen year, 21-20. They tried to pass and I swatted it down, making the block.”
